Estelle Marie Cappello
Estelle Marie (Hansen) Cappello
August 8, 1932 - July 3, 2014
Loving Wife and Best Friend of Angelo Cappello
Born and raised in New Jersey, Estelle was a resident of Monmouth County for nearly 25 years. She completed nurse's training at Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield NJ and worked in private practices in Perth Amboy and Middletown NJ. In 1977, after raising her son and daughter, Estelle met and married the love of her life and set out with Angelo for new adventures in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.
Estelle loved Grand County and was a true friend and neighbor. She cheered on the Little League teams Angelo coached. She tirelessly campaigned for donations for a score board at the Hot Sulphur Little League field. Estelle succeeded in her goal to have one installed and it still stands today!
It was her children (both by birth and remarriage) and grandchildren who brought her the most joy. She never missed recognizing each of them, and letting them know how proud she was of any accomplishment, great or small. A gifted pianist, her talents and passion for the arts and music are a living legacy.
Estelle passed peacefully amid the mountains and wildlife she so loved with her family by her side.
Estelle is survived by her husband of 37 years Angelo Cappello and their canine companion Faith; son Joe Kanon and partner Larry of CA; daughter Kris Matthews and husband George of MA; brother Fred Hansen and wife Vita of NJ; bonus children Cindy Cappello and partner Dennis Nave of CO; Janell and Tina Cappello of NJ; Joseph Cappello of CO; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Estelle's name to the Mountain Family Center, 480 E Agate - Suite 1C, PO Box 638, Granby CO 80446. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
I'm so sorry for your loss. She will be missed by many. I always enjoyed our visits and I'm sure she leaves an empty spot in many hearts and lives. Estelle was a great lady. You were lucky to have each other for so many years! Many of us wish we were that lucky! Take care of yourself, Ang.
