Shirley "Annie" Steineck

Shirley Steineck, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, at the age of 93.

Born on February 16, 1932, near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Shirley was the daughter of James and Gertrude Baxter and the oldest of four children. She grew up in the Pittsburgh area, where she met and later married the love of her life, John Steineck.

Shirley and John raised six children while relocating across the United States for John's work. The family finally settled in Colorado in 1969. As empty nesters, they moved to the scenic mountain town of Grand Lake in 1990, where Shirley thrived amid the natural beauty and tight-knit community. She generously shared her artistic talents by teaching drawing and painting classes in her home. Shirley and John were active, faithful members of St. Anne Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Gertrude Baxter; her beloved husband, John Steineck; and her daughter, Cindy Steineck.

Shirley is survived by her sons, Rick Steineck (Valerie) and Karl Steineck (Carolyn); daughters, Jackie Hailey (Mark), Jeanne Miller (Tim), and Lauren Orosco (Kevin); ten grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff and volunteers at Cliffview Assisted Living Center and Kremmling Memorial Hospital, who provided loving care and support during her final years. Special gratitude also goes to the parishioners of St. Peter Catholic Church who assisted with her spiritual needs while she was in Kremmling.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anne Catholic Church in Grand Lake on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

Shirley lived a life full of love, creativity, and quiet faith. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
