Judith Kay Romero passed away at the age of 72 on March 24, 2023. Judy was a lifelong resident of Kremmling, CO where she raised and loved her large family. Judy was born in Steamboat Springs on September 14, 1950 and was raised in Kremmling by her parents John and Ruth Murphy along-side her four siblings Linda, Mike, Dan, and Susie. She attended West Grand High School, and in 1968 Judy started her family with the birth of her daughter Marcia Romero. In the years that followed she gave birth to her sons Ken Romero, Tim Romero, and Paul Romero. In 1984 Judy became a grandmother and during the next 38 years she welcomed 6 grandkids and 9 great-grandkids. In 1993 Judy met the love of her life, Scott Hitchcock. Her family was her life and she fiercely loved each member with her whole heart.
Judy held several jobs through the years, but the one profession she enjoyed the most was the many years she spent working at Middle Park Meat Company, where she met her husband Scott. When she wasn’t providing for her family, Judy could be found enjoying the mountains she called home. She was an avid hunter and loved everything about the outdoors. She loved to collect rocks and arrowheads, hunt, trap, fish, and was very skilled at taxidermy. She had a genuine love of nature and photographed it whenever she had a chance. Judy was known for her incredible green thumb and delicious canned goods she made every season along with the spoils of her yearly hunting adventures. She loved having family around, and everyone remembers how she went all out to make those times special and memorable.
