Geneva Constance Sherman

September 17, 1930 — August 23, 2025

Kremmling, Colorado

Geneva Sherman was born Geneva Constance Rasmussen on September 17, 1930, on the family farm near Brunswick, Nebraska. Geneva passed quietly on August 23, 2025, with her three sons and their spouses, and granddaughter Shelly and husband Brady, at her bedside. She was born among two brothers and three sisters. Brother Marlin, sister Bernice, and brother Alston have preceded her in death. Her younger sisters—Vergene, North Platte, Nebraska, and Marilyn and husband Bob, Endinburg, Texas—survive her. Also preceding her in death are her husband, Whitey, in 2002, and daughter, Lynn Ruby, in 2014.

Geneva finished high school in Chambers, Nebraska, after which she took a vacation trip with a friend to Estes Park, Colorado. Geneva liked the area and, much to her father’s chagrin, moved to Estes Park in September of 1948. She worked at the Estes Park hospital and for Dr. Mall. It was in Estes that she met Marshall (Whitey) Sherman, and they married on May 14, 1950.

In the first year of marriage they moved a lot with Whitey’s work for the Bureau of Reclamation building high-voltage power lines. They finally settled in Longmont, Colorado, where they lived for five years and had the first three children, Marshall in 1951, Lynn in 1952, and Michael in 1955. In 1957, Whitey’s work took them to Gunnison, Colorado, where Richard was born.

In 1965, work brought them to Kremmling, Colorado, living in the government camp below Green Mountain Dam. The family attended Kremmling Community Church where Geneva sang in choir, duets, trios, and quartets. Geneva taught Sunday school for youth, teens, and adults for many years. Geneva was on the Deaconess team for years, cleaned the church when it had wooden floors to scrub and wax, helped set up potluck dinners, hosted missionaries, and served wherever needed. Her faith and relationship with the Creator of the Universe was a constant mainstay in her life. She not only spoke it, but she lived it and passed it on to her children.

The family began to grow again in the 1970’s as their kids began to marry and have kids who began to have kids—giving Geneva 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren—bringing her joy and delight throughout the years.

By 2019, Geneva’s physical strength began to fail as a result of age and the stroke she had in 1996. In 2020, the family had to place her in Middle Park Health Long Term Care in Kremmling for her care and well-being. What a blessing to have a facility like this in Kremmling. We are so thankful. The CNA’s, nurses and doctors provided amazing care for Geneva that the family could no longer provide. Thanks also to Mountain Family Center for van availability to transport her to appointments. Geneva suffered another stroke on August 14, 2025, and quietly passed into the arms of her Savior, Jesus, on August 23, 2025. So much life and so many memories in the nearly 95 years of her life! Thank you Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, Sister and Aunt!
