Obituary of Alycia Riggs
Alycia Colleen Riggs, 30, was involved in a fatal car accident near her home in Grand Lake, CO on Tuesday, February 3, 2015. Alycia was born on April 10, 1984 in Youngstown, Ohio and moved to the San Luis Valley at 13 years old, where she enjoyed life, family, friends, law enforcement, and especially being a mother.
Alycia was a wonderful mother, daughter, sister, friend and law enforcement officer. She was a loving, caring, generous and fun person who couldn't contain her smile. She was an avid softball fan, committed to her career, and made a world around her beautiful 3 year old daughter, Azaylee Kye.
Alycia will be deeply missed by her daughter, Azaylee; her mother Kathy Riggs; siblings Adam and Adrienne Atencio, Anika and Michael Scroggins, Elijah, Isaiah, Ezra, Amelia , Amos & Angelina Riggs; nieces and nephews Arielle, Tytus & Kahlena Atencio, Sawyer Cash and Urban Michael Scroggins, and special girls Christina and Carma; much extended family and more friends than can be counted.
Alycia was preceded in death by her father, Wesley James Riggs, and infant brother Nicholas Riggs.
There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial in Grand County at 1:00 on Saturday, February 7th in the Kiva Building at the Snow Mountain Ranch YMCA and another service at the Rio Grande County Annex building in Del Norte, CO at 2:00 on Sunday, February 8th. Everyone is welcome to attend. It will be a time of sharing memories, love, friendship, and family.
A memorial fund for Azaylee Kye is in place at the Del Norte Bank, 705 Grande Ave., Del Norte, CO.
